History of the Jim's Group
The ethos held by the Company Founder of the Jim's Group of Companies, is the core reason for its success. Recently, Jim was nominated as one of "Australia's icons" by Readers Digest (published September 2001) which paid tribute to the man himself, as well as his business practices, which place Franchisees and Master Franchisees at the top of the "business pyramid".
Jim Penman started Jim's Mowing in Melbourne, Australia in 1982,forming the franchise system in 1989. With more than 2000 Franchisees, the company already has a strong presence in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada and is poised to expand its influence in the United States market. Growing at about 15% per annum, the company currently is the largest lawn mowing franchise in the world.
Since 1989, Jim has launched a plethora of new divisions, all with an eye to the core business of "home services": cleaning, dog wash, paving, fencing, tree services, handyman, blind cleaning and repairs antennas, wardrobes, security doors, alarms, book keeping, floor sanding and polishing, mobile BBQ's, pest control, roof restoration, computer repairs, just to name a few. The key to a successful business is service and the way to achieve excellence is in attracting and keeping the best people. A core principle of the Jim's system is a rigorous process of selection. Quality is maintained by training, direct and frequent contact with Franchise owners and by an incentive based fee system. |
